To maximize reading time and build knowledge of science and social studies topics, students will focus on these topics in guided reading groups.  This is a great way to connect the science curriculum (light, seasons, rotation of the earth) with informative reading skills.  Students will be able to use the text to identify key ideas and synthesize information from multiple sources on the same topic.
Don't worry - we will still work with narrative texts through each group's literature circle novels!
