After we examine the characteristics of technical texts (directions to complete a specific task), students will have the chance to complete a mini-project by following the directions. Students will then reflect on what strategies they used if they did not understand a word or procedure. In other words, this task is helping students to recognize meta cognition - thinking about how we think! Was it important to read the text multiple times? Were context clues useful? Our crafty mini-projects will be sent home with students this week as they are finished.
