Over the next two weeks, students will use key words to identify the following text structures: description, sequence, compare & contrast, cause & effect, and problem & solution. Students will also use visuals (graphic organizers) to help determine text structure. For instance, a descriptive text could be organized using a web. All details and supporting ideas would branch out from the central topic. A Venn diagram (two overlapping circles) helps to show how items are similar and different.
