is our current Junior Great Books story.  How appropriate that it takes place during westward expansion - just like we are studying in social studies!  Students will apply close reading strategies and to gain a deeper understanding of the text. By doing so, students will be able to determine the main points to write an effective summary.  Students will also practice using specific support from within the text to justify and support their answers.

After spring break, we resume with non-fiction text.  Our focus will be unBEElievable!  Students will determine the characteristics of the problem and solution text structure by reading about honeybees and colony collapse disorder (CCD). Students will also identify main points and integrate information from multiple sources on the same topic.
