when it comes to literature circle roles and discussions! We will discuss short stories and literature circle novels, as well as have guided reading instruction. The focus this week will be story structure. This will be introduced briefly during whole group and examined in much more depth during guided reading group meetings. Students will also become familiar with a plot diagram so that they can sequence events and determine the climax of the story. Why is the story sequenced in a particular way? These lessons will also help students as they draft their adventure writing!
Remember that students should read 20 minutes each evening. Also, it is important to keep up with literature circle reading and role sheets.
Please monitor your child's progress during the week by asking him/her what her literature circle assignment is what he/she has completed to avoid doing it all the night before it is due. Not every group will have an assignment during the week; however it is best to check in rather than have your student unprepared for his/her discussion at school.
