Now that students are familiar with the basic structures and functions of plant and animal cells, it is time to examine specialized cells. Students have the opportunity to observe various plant and animal cells under microscopes! Ask your scientist if he/she saw a cheek cell or examined an onion cell. Students were amazed by the differences between plant and animal cells.
Large organisms need specialized cells to help them function. Students will learn and observe various specialized cells. Why does a bone cell look different than a skin cell? Your scientist will be able to explain by the end of the week!
