Can you believe that the industrial revolution involved espionage?!?

Students learned that Samuel Slater illegally brought plans for a textile factory to America.  How?  By MEMORIZING every detail before leaving England.  With the creation of mills using water power and machinery, a new revolution began.  Unfortunately, the working conditions were less than desirable.

Many other inventions, such as the steel plow and cotton gin not only increased production, but helped people work in an entirely different way.

Students will use this information to create historical fiction narratives in writing.
