Students learned how the United States acquired western lands. By following manifest destiny, Americans headed west and acquired land through agreements, purchases, and even battles.  Students became experts on an event during this time period and shared their group's knowledge with the class.  This, along with multi-media links and our text book, helped students prepare for this week's checkpoint.

On April 2nd, students will take a checkpoint covering the following topics:

  • Lewis & Clark Expedition
  • Annexation of Texas
  • Acquisition of Florida
  • Acquisition of Oregon
  • Gadsen Purchase
