As the tensions in the colonies grew, so did feelings about independence. Colonists who wanted freedom from Britain were known as patriots. The colonists who wished to remain British subjects and supported the King were known as loyalists. This week students will examine opposing viewpoints. After reading to be informed, students will summarize the viewpoint of a loyalist or patriot by creating a unique colonial trading card. These trading cards will then be used to help students compare multiple viewpoints from this time period.
