Now that students are familiar with the characteristics of adventure, it is time to write one!
Last week, 5th graders brainstormed ideas and began to fill out an organizer to plan an adventure story. This week, each student will complete his/her plan. Students will also closely examine the criteria for the story's introduction. In the introduction, or exposition, students must introduce the characters, setting, and the problem (or provide clues as to what the problem in the story is).
This assignment will be completed entirely at school. Students will have plenty of time, since they will have opportunities to write during the writing block and when they are not meeting in reading group during the morning literacy block. Please remind your child to use his/her time wisely! When a teacher is working with a small group, he/she cannot be in two places at once (although we frequently check in).
