This week students used a familiar topic, Paul Revere, to practice organizing notes during the research phase.  This activity helped show students how to think about each  note and determine if or when it could be used in the paper.  After eliminating facts that were interesting but not important, students helped create an informative paragraph.  Transition words and phrases were also used to help the events flow.  Students will spend this week and the rest of next week drafting their essays.
