Junior Great Books

We begin the 3rd marking period by exploring Lenny's Red Letter Day.  Using close reading strategies, students will "mark up" the text to identify vocabulary words they are unfamiliar with, as well as interesting and important parts.  Students will create questions about the text and use evidence from the text as they respond.  
 

Information is everywhere....

and we are currently focusing on informational text during reading instruction!  Students will apply close reading strategies to "mark up" informational text.  This will help students focus on topic sentences, which lead us to the main idea of the text.  Students will also make notes in the text where information was found to answer comprehension questions. Using information found within the text is vital when demonstrating comprehension of the text.
