Still hard at work

Students continue to use plays and myths to identify theme and compare  the characters, setting, and problems from various genres. We will use plays based on events during the Civil Rights Movement and Women's Rights Movement next week. This is a great way to connect what students are working on in reading to our informational writing topic.
 

Lights, Camera, Action!

This week students will review the characteristics and elements of plays.  Since students are familiar with the myth, Pandora's Box, we will begin the week by exploring a play on the same topic.  Students will identify the importance of stage directions, dialogue, and organization of a play.  After examining the story and play, students will compare both versions by using key ideas from each source.  In reading groups, students will explore a variety of plays and practice summarizing skills. ...
