Did spiders go to school to learn how to spin a web?  Were they taught by a parent?  NO!  This skill is an instinct...which means every spider is born with this knowledge.  Did someone teach you how to cry when you were a baby?  Nope!  That is also an instinct.  This week we will examine the difference between instincts and learned behaviors.

By the end of the week, we hope to introduce the topic of heredity.  What traits and characteristics did you inherit from your parents?  We will examine our own families traits as well as how genetics play a role in determining who we are.
